About
Hello! I'm Laurie, a local artist specialising in fine art portraits. Painting is my passion, and I am honoured to capture the essence of your loved ones—whether they are human or a bit more furry.
I grew up in the charming British countryside of Holybourne near Alton, Hampshire. My childhood was filled with happy memories of farmland and country walks, fostering a lifelong love of nature.
In 2003, I joined the Royal Air Force, working with helicopters in a logistics role for nine years. Unfortunately, I had to leave in 2012 due to medical reasons, which led to a significant period of personal adjustment.
My medical issues also meant I could no longer play sports, including rugby, which I had played at the county level. This loss led me to spend more time at the pub, which became an unhealthy habit. However, in the summer of 2023, I decided to give up alcohol to improve my physical and mental health.
After ditching the booze I rediscovered my intense love for art in childhood and picked up my paintbrush again. Since then, I haven't put it down, immersing myself in blending colors and exploring new techniques.
I enjoy incorporating my interests in ornithology and nature into watercolor paintings. I also have a special passion for capturing the unique character of your beloved pets in my art, ensuring you have a treasured keepsake to cherish forever. We lost our beloved cocker spaniel George in 2022 and I truly understand the love of pets.
In the summer of 2024, I entered my first exhibition and get so much personal satisfaction when I hand over a painting of a loved one or a cherished companion. It brings me immense joy to share my art with others and create pieces that bring happiness and create lasting memories. I can’t wait to hear all about who you’d like me to paint.
